How long does it take to get my Bhutan Visa?

Once we have received the required documents and payment, we can submit your visa application on your behalf through Bhutan’s immigration system. Visa applications are reviewed within five working days after submission, although we recommend applying well in advance of your arrival to allow time for any additional information or changes to your travel plans.

Do I need to send you my passport for Bhutan visa application?

No. You do not need to send us your physical passport. We only require a clear digital copy of the personal details page of your valid passport and a recent passport photograph. Trails of Bhutan will submit the visa application on your behalf through Bhutan’s online immigration system. Your original passport must be presented when you arrive in Bhutan.

Most international visitors to Bhutan require a visa before travelling. Visitors from India, Bangladesh and the Maldives follow separate entry arrangements, with Indian nationals requiring an entry permit and Bangladeshi and Maldivian nationals eligible for visa on arrival.

To apply, we require a clear digital copy of your passport, a recent passport-sized photograph and the necessary travel details. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your intended departure from Bhutan.

A one-time, non-refundable visa application fee of US$40 is payable for visitors who require a visa. In addition, most international visitors pay a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of US$100 per adult per night, with concessionary rates for children. The SDF is separate from the visa fee and contributes towards Bhutan’s social, cultural and environmental development.
